Connor C. - "Compassionate"

Connor’s compassion for others is threaded throughout his story and his patients are a testament to the difference it makes. Inspired by his parent’s example—his mother, a Medical Scientist and his father, an Environmental Scientist and Volunteer Firefighter—Connor wanted to do something that would help others too.
In high school, Connor joined the CNA program which set him on path of learning to care for others. During this time, he also volunteered for Valencia County Emergency Services, exposing him to urgent situations that helped shape him into the attentive caregiver he is today.
After graduation, Connor began working as a CNA at a healthcare and rehab facility. With 28 patients in the unit, it trained him to be a skilled CNA; to care for all types of patients; and to problem solve in critical situations. Many of his patients didn’t have family around, so he would become like family to them and go out of his way to make them feel cared for and ensure their needs were met.
In 2018, Connor took a break from caregiving and began working for a home improvement store. It was then that he realized how much he missed caring for others. So, when he received a call from Interim HealthCare asking him to come in for an interview, he just knew, that was what he was meant to do.
In 2019, Connor joined Interim HealthCare in Albuquerque, NM as a CNA in home health and he has been happy ever since. The most rewarding part of his job is the feeling he gets from caring for other people. He understands that families are depending on him to take care of someone they dearly love and he is dedicated to providing the best care possible.
Working for Interim HealthCare has allowed Connor to pursue his passion for caregiving while receiving the training and education he needs to keep his career advancing. Interim HealthCare University’s online training courses are one of many ways the Company invests in its talent. Another high point of Connor’s job is the support he receives from the staff. Whenever he has any kind of need, they are always very responsive and willing to help.
As a CNA, Connor plays such a vital part in a patient’s life. He recalls one client experience that impacted him greatly. The gentleman was a paraplegic who served in the U.S. Air Force. He didn’t really want a caregiver, but he did it for his wife. Connor would help him with bathing, moving him in and out of bed and support with any other needs he might have. The man never said much to him while he was there, but Connor knew he was grateful. Just before he passed, he looked Connor in the eye and thanked him for everything he had done to help care for him and help him complete his daily tasks. Hearing those words touched Connor deeply. He remembers just sitting in his car crying after he finished his shift.
