Melissa W. - "Caring"
Some people spread love wherever they go—that’s the golden thread running through Melissa’s story.
She learned from her grandmother early on what caring from the heart really meant. Her faith and genuine love for others has made her an amazing caregiver and her clients are a testament to it.
Melissa has been a CNA at Interim HealthCare in Tallahassee for six years and is a recent graduate of their PIN Program, a set of training courses that enable caregivers to specialize in specific areas of care and advance in their career.
Melissa understands that to do her job well, she must step out of the way and remember why she’s there. It is never about her, it’s always about the patient and their needs, whatever that may be. So, when one dementia patient insisted on calling her Pam, she just went with it, understanding where her mind was. She didn’t argue with her, she just loved on her right where she was at. Melissa even expressed interest in learning Greek so she could understand more, and in time, the two of them became the best of friends. She cares for others in the same way she cared for her own mother.
